Apart Research is hiring a Technical Project Manager to own delivery for a new research division building independent harmful-manipulation evaluations for the EU AI Office, ahead of EU AI Act enforcement. You track deadlines and deliverables; you check in with team members and unblock them, so our researchers can focus on the science and deliver high-impact research fast.

About Apart Research. Apart is a globally distributed AI safety research lab. We're standing up a Research Division to build independent harmful-manipulation evaluations for the EU AI Office ahead of EU AI Act enforcement. We've co-authored with the EU AI Office in Science, contributed to the EU AI Act Code of Practice across three of its four Working Groups, sit on the AI Act Advisory Forum, and assembled the consortium (Apart, CeSIA, Equistamp, Transluce, FAR.AI) that won the AI Office's evaluation tender on harmful manipulation (36 months).

Over the last three years, we have also run 50+ global AI safety research hackathons with 6,000+ participants, have worked with 120+ research fellows, and published 30+ peer-reviewed AI-safety papers, including spotlights at top conferences.

About the role

From August 2026 the EU AI Office can hold frontier labs accountable for manipulative AI. To do so it needs high-quality evaluations and empirical evidence. Apart's Research Division is a small, focused team, dedicated to delivering the required research fast. The Technical Project Manager owns the plan, tracks the deliverables, monitors the budget, and unblocks the researchers.

This is a delivery-and-coordination role at its core.

You report to the Director of Research and to the CEO, and work closely with the Research Scientists. The division's work is independent but informed by direct conversation with EU AI Office staff.

What you would own

• Accountability for delivery. You own progress-tracking against deliverables and prevent deadlines from slipping.
• Unblock the team. Check in with everyone, spot blockers, and clear them. Keep the researchers focused on research.
• Budget and finances. Own the division's budget and burn tracking.
• Funding pipeline support. Track active and prospective funding sources; keep the funding picture current and keep CEO and Director of Research accountable for advancing fundraising.
• Coordination. Keep the division coordinated internally and with external partners (the EU AI Office, consortium collaborators, funders): schedule meetings, track who needs what from whom, and be the reliable operational interface.
• Hiring and onboarding. Run hiring logistics (coordinate candidates, schedule interviews, prepare offers) and onboard new hires and external collaborators.
